Mombo Wildlife Safaris

The excellent, thriving wildlife around Mombo has made this area Botswana's top wildlife documentary location. National Geographic, the BBC and many others have filmed here, acclaiming Mombo to have some of the best all year round game-viewing in Africa.

Mombo is also the site of the reintroduction to the wild in Botswana of both black and white rhino adding the chance of seeing one of these impressive species as well and contributing to their conservation. Mombo's game viewing is not only unique but constantly superb throughout the year. Abundant big game viewing is possible in all seasons with the highlight of the area being the vast concentrations of all the plains game- especially species such as red lechwe, plains zebra, giraffe and impala - and of all the predators - especially the big cats like lion and leopard as well as the formidable spotted hyena.

Big Cat Action

Lion and leopard sightings are particularly good with resident prides of lion being seen on virtually every game drive and leopard being so undeterred by people that they have been seen walking straight through camp. Due to the high numbers of big cats in this area, inter-predator interaction is a feature of safaris here.

Guests can also see large herds of Buffalo, Wild Dog, Elephant, Hyena, Giraffe, Wildebeest and Zebra. Birdlife is prolific, with waterfowl and waders being particularly common.
