Mombo Trails Camp

Guests now have the opportunity to experience the tip of Chief’s Island at ground level versus the elevated board walks that we know so well at Mombo Camp. This makes Trails Camp unique and a limited-edition experience! The last time Mombo was at ground level was pre 2000, some 17 years ago.

Eight elegantly furnished and spacious guest tents (16 beds) with en-suite facilities are situated on slightly raised decks to minimise impact on the site, all under large, shady trees, and often within sight of a variety of the area’s wildlife. Under massive jackalberry trees, the central living and dining area with small library overlook the floodplain. Delicious meals are enjoyed here or under the stars, while guests, guides and staff gather around the campfire to relive the history of one of our longest-running camps.

Mombo Trails Camp is hosting guests while the new Mombo is being rebuilt in the same stunning location that has wowed guests and staff alike for almost 20 years. Once the new Mombo is complete, Trails will be taken down and the area from Tree Line to Lechwe Haven will be restored to its wild uninhabited status as if nothing had taken place, such is the sensitivity of lodge-building in the pristine Okavango Delta.

The camp is situated on the ground but no need to worry about walking back in the dark to your room, with electric 4x4 golf carts that are solely available at Mombo Trails at your disposal to whisk you away to your room after the gourmet dining that Mombo is renowned for. Mombo Trails is situated about 1.5km away from Mombo Camp so if noise of the ongoing rebuild is worrying you rest assured that song and dance will be the only noise greeting you at Mombo Trails.
